How to Recycle Utility Meters: The Process

We prefer partners pack the meters loose in palletized corrugated gaylord boxes. As a result, this strategy is easier than a dump trailer. It increases what recyclers can pay and decreases the transportation cost. Subsequently, you can get 40-44 gaylords per 53’ van trailer load. If necessary, we can provide pallets and packing suppliers for the shipment of meters.

Thus, you need to separate the analog from the digital. This can be as easy as keeping the meters in separate gaylords. If you need gaylords, we can have them delivered to you. A load or two at a time- depending on what number of meters you expect.

Once agreed, we will give you a Purchase Order (PO). Then schedule pick-ups in 53’ Dry Van Trailers at your facility. We will then deliver the material to a facility in Madison, Illinois. We weigh and record every pallet. Also, we will record the actual weight versus the PO estimate. Then process payment to recycle meters.

All material will be recycled using the ISO 14001 Environmental Management best practices. We also use the OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety best practices. We confirm the exact weights recorded upon receipt. Then the company issues a written certificate.
